For me the seaside holds many happy memories, not just of playing in the sand and building sandcastles but also of paddling and swimming in the sea. I was lucky enough to live for several years right at the edge of a beach, and it was a constant source of fascination and delight every day. Even in winter and stormy weather there was interesting flotsam and jetsam thrown up on the shore. That was some time ago when one could find glass floats, but then they became metal and finally plastic.
The beach does not necessarily have to be sandy either, climbing over rocks and looking in pools for crabs, shrimps and fish will enthral any child. With sun, sand and the rhythm of the waves, the seaside is a magic place, where time disappears and energy is endless. If you ever need a place to relax, to forget the worries of the material world and restore the soul, go down to the seaside.
