The black and white portrait photographs of the past are fascinating to look at, one can almost sense the character of the person involved, and get an idea of how life has affected them.
I had a notion to do more portraits, but the prevailing mood in society has changed, with antipathy towards photographs for reasons of vanity, invasion of privacy, possible paedophiles, etc. Therefore, I concentrated on nature.
The objects in nature that I seem to have paid most attention to are trees. They come in such a variety of forms, with different leaves and bark textures, diminutive or majestic, I never tire of looking at them. They each have their own character, bearing the scars of man, weather and disease, creating a wondrous beauty for us to admire and respect.
