White is nearly always associated with positivity and is regarded as the highest of all colours spiritually. Symbolic of purity, sacredness, hope, pure consciousness, illumination, the undifferentiated, the transcendent, holiness, and spiritual authority, it also represents death in the Orient. However, in Christianity white vestments are worn at baptism, confirmation, marriage and death, symbolic of death of the old life and birth into the new one, the purified soul and the holy life.
