Just think of the number of times we look at ourselves in the mirror; when we are washing ourselves each morning, when we brush or comb our hair, when shaving or putting on lipstick or make-up, when we adjust our clothes or put on a hat, before an important meeting, etc. Now try a little test, without looking in a mirror, try to draw yourself.
Even if you happen to be fairly good at art I bet you found it almost impossible to do!
In the picture above, the water is mostly the reflection of the trees and sky; we cannot see much of the water or what is under the surface. Similarly, when you see yourself in a mirror you are seeing a reflection only, it is not the real you. To find the real you one has to go past the mere appearance and connect with the inner you, the heart, the mind, the soul. Only then can we begin to fully understand ourselves, and in understanding ourselves we can begin to understand others and life itself.
