I have taken some interesting photographs when it has been frosty. The whiteness of the frost can contrast with a dark coloured flower or object, and the frost can show up things that are almost invisible – like a spider’s web for example. However, the above photograph was taken of my bedroom window on a February morning. The beautiful feather-like patterns made it look very similar to a piece of commercial frosted glass.
As a motorist I have often disliked the frost, the cause of cold hands while scraping windows and trying to get the car key into the door to unlock it, not to mention the dangers of icy roads. But walking in nature on a cold frosty morning can be a magical adventure. The quality, luminosity and clarity of the light make an everyday scene a completely new experience. It is like getting a new perspective of it.
